Finish Line events - Mount Beauty Six Hour
Sunday 9 th March 2008
Approximately 10 km in length, mainly single track with a little bit of wide track/fire road.
Come and ride the softer side to Mount Beauty . The course while challenging, will have none of the trade mark Mount Beauty techo sections and should be achievable by all but the complete novice.
After completing a start loop with a nice big climb to sort out the field, riders will drop into the 4X track before entering the course proper. From there it's the best single track Mount Beauty has to offer with a little wide track/fire road thrown in. Expected lap times will be about 30 Minutes for riders with a reasonable level of fitness.
Starting in Merimbula, riders will climb 5,500m (almost 20,000 feet) over 240km before summiting Australia's highest mountain, Mt Kosciuszko. Put into perspective, the ride is tougher than most mountain stages of the Tour de France.

Australia's most spectacular 100km mountain bike race is coming to the Otways in Victoria and includes one big, hot lap of roller coaster riding through paradise on the Victorian coast. The inaugural Otway Odyssey Mountain Bike Marathon will be held on February 3 rd , 2007 and will lead competitors from the ocean shores of Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road to the township of Forrest and return, totaling a distance of 100km of spectacular riding in the Otways National Park.
The Otway Odyssey may be completed as an individual riding the whole 100km, as a team of 2 riding half each or as a shorter 50km ride from Forrest back to Apollo Bay for those newer to the sport
The mid way point of the ride will be the Forrest football ground where a massive festival will be under way to welcome cyclists. The Forrest Festival will include plenty of live music, a broad range of food, beverages and market stalls, a full size BMX dirt jump arena and competition (with some of the best BMX riders from around Australia), activities for kids and the opportunity for all others to kick back and relax while the riders are gallivanting through the National Park!
All up the ride includes approximately:
- Bitumen road (5%)
- Gravel/dirt roads (35%)
- Over grown double track (20%)
- Single Track (40%) making it A RIDERS COURSE!
There is also a bunch of cash up for grabs with $40,000 in cash and prizes available to win.
